Buffy-Watch 2009 Update
So, halfway through season 2 and now I remember why I loved this show: it never suffered those first season blues that something like Star Trek: TNG did. The actors nailed their characters right from the get go, and the writers crafted some great dialogue. At the midpoint of the second season (BIG SPOILER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO'S EVER THINKING OF WATCHING THE SHOW) Angel is likely the best villain on TV. I'd say maybe Scorpius from Farscape, or John Simm's version of The Master from Doctor Who come close, but not quite. Anyway, it's ridiculously enjoyable at the moment, so much so that I've fallen behind in my reading for school. I'm off now to read the life of Margery Kemp, a 14th century mystic, for my medieval literature class. Margery's no Buffy, but she was apparently a bit of a wild thing in the 1300s.

Angelus is pretty nasty in Buffy s.2, it's just a shame that he's never this threatening again, I'm thinking of the Angel series where, whenever Angelus turns up, you know that the bad guys are more at risk from him than the good guys are.

Totally true! I actually got rid of my Angel box sets, except for the first one. Considering it was such a pain in the ass to restore Angel's soul in Buffy, they seem to do it two or three times over the course of Angel's series. I had always hoped that they would make him evil for an entire season of his own show, so that the bad ass villain would be the main character.
